There are two parts to our business, the wellness and product portion and the marketing portion, and I am focusing on the wellness part in this post.
I’m going to share 7 ways you can increase good bacteria in your gut! You do know that’s where all your health starts from… your gut… right?

1.Fill up on good fiber.
Plant fiber will help your immune system and reduce inflammation in your body. Veggies, fruits, legumes and whole grains are the best source of fiber.
2. Pick pre-biotic foods.
Feed your healthy bacteria a good diet. Artichokes, leeks, onions, garlic, asparagus, spinach, beans, bananas and oats are foods rich in pre-biotics to feed the good bacteria in your gut.
3. Use: pro-biotic foods.
Pro-biotics are live bacteria or yeasts in fermented foods or supplementation that live in your gut and improve your health. Some of these foods are: sauerkraut, miso, tempeh, kimchee and water kefir.
4. Avoid: animal products.
Avoid red meat, high fat dairy and fried foods. These things reduce the growth of healthy bacteria, and promote bad bacteria growth which can lead to disease.
5. Limit: bad fats.
Avoid: Trans fats found in : baked goods, pre-packaged snack foods, margarine, vegetable shortening, hydrogenated oils and fried foods.
Avoid: Saturated fats (which aren’t as bad, but you should limit them) found in: red meat, whole dairy, ice cream and coconut oil (which raises cholesterol levels).
Use: mono-saturated fats, which help lower blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides. These include: olive, sesame and avocado oils, olives, nuts and nut butters.
Use: poly-unsaturated fats, which also help lower blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides. These include: Sunflower, sesame and pumpkin seeds, flax, walnuts, safflower oil, tofu and fatty fish like salmon, tuna and trout.
6. Avoid unnecessary antibiotics.
These kill any good bacteria in your gut, and you even have to watch for them in many of the foods you purchase.
7. Lead a healthy lifestyle.
When you exercise, get good sleep and manage your stress, it all helps your gut to stay healthy.
So you can see how these 7 steps help contribute to a healthier gut and a happier you!
